What is XL-Connector COM add-in?
XL-Connector COM add-in is a Windows-based Microsoft Excel add-in that allows users to query, insert, update, and delete Salesforce data directly from desktop Excel.
Which versions of Excel are supported?
The COM add-in supports Windows desktop versions of Excel (typically Excel 2016 and newer). It is not supported on macOS.
How does XL-Connector authenticate to Salesforce?
It authenticates using:
- Auth2 client-server authentication – takes the user to a salesforce.com login url to authenticate using their username and password. If authentication is successful, the user is granted an authentication token that is used throughout the user session with salesforce.com
- 2-factor authentication with username, password, and security token previously generated by the
user from their Salesforce.com account.
- Single Sign-On Authentication – takes the user to the single sign-on provider to authenticate and if successful, redirects to the Force.com authentication page to grant an authentication token.
Are Salesforce credentials stored locally?
Credentials are stored securely on the local machine and are not transmitted to Xappex servers.
Which Salesforce objects are supported?
All standard and custom Salesforce objects are supported, subject to user permissions.
Can it handle large data volumes?
Yes. Performance will depend on Salesforce API limits, network speed, and Excel’s row limitations.
Can I log in to multiple Salesforce orgs with XL-Connector?
Yes, there’s no limit as to the number of Salesforce orgs you can log in to.
